What You Will Learn: Learning from the masters is one of the best ways to develop a good eye. You will learn hard versus soft light, the direction of the key and the ratio of key to fill. You will learn how to make the best use of architecture and windows, and lighting backgrounds so as to add structural interest will be discussed. You will learn the use of smoke, mist and dust to add texture. Peter Stein, ASC and participants will recreate some of these lighting setups, step by step, while referencing the monitor through the use of a DSLR camera. You will learn how to find the best angle, and how to best light and compose a good close-up. Some of the most important moments in film occur in close-ups. Memorable films with different "looks." We will analyze paintings by old masters, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. The lighting will be broken down into understandable concepts.
